I'm pleased to present Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella, for Solo Violin and Orchestra.
This arrangement was originally written for my sister and has a special place in my heart. When arranging this piece, I had a very clear image of a torch-lit marketplace full of bustling people in Bethlehem. A wide-eyed and very pregnant Mary and her husband Joseph are trying to thread their way through the crowd in order to find lodging for the night.
In the second half after the orchestra culminates in an exciting celebration and everything begins to quiet, the solo violin takes on the role of the mother, and gently comforts her new-born son, as if she is humming a lullaby to the baby to get him to sleep. The orchestra takes on the role of shepherds, wisemen, and angels as they all crowed around the new-born to witness the miracle birth.
I hope you enjoy my rendition of Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella. For those that are interested, sheet music is available at
