Put it there pal, we shook hands. But I meant my heart, you implanted Your self in my self, our pictures out on the shelf, I’m so happy we’re friends. I call you up and you’re there. We can talk for hours or minutes. Whatever I need, no matter how crazy, I’m so happy we're friends, I’m happy we’re friends. And not just because you’re the weirdest. Well maybe you are, you help hide my scars, You reveal in the dark to me planets, And worlds I didn’t know, didn’t have a clue. Things I can barely comprehend. But because you’re my guide, my explorer, my ride, I see things that’re all kinds of magic. Magic that didn’t exist. Or maybe it did, just couldn’t feel it. But then you said, “We’re pals.” And I said, “Heck yeah.” I’m happy I’m happy we’re friends. I’m so happy we're happy I’m just so happy we’re friends. I’m so very happy we’re friends.

The mud is deep, the mud is gooey, But we never get stuck together. I mean, we are stuck (kinda), but don’t you worry. I try, you’re trying, (my nerves), I never… People marvel and say to us, “How do they mesh? So well, so completely, in tandem.” They look up to us, each other we stretch, Survival with you isn’t random. Anything. With you, I can do almost– Because we are so close, because we act as one, Anything is possible, underneath the sun. Anything. With you, I can do almost– Except there was that time, you kinda got us lost. I knew where we were going, but your pride did us accost. (I’m sorry…) Anything. With you, I can do almost– And since we’re on the subject, of how you hold me back, You could stop micromanaging, and questioning my plans. (You do.) There’s a method to my madness, it seems weird to you I know, but it’s so effortless for me, on adventures I must go. And since we’re being honest, I think I might go out myself, The world out there’s an oyster, and oysters make you welp. Anything. Without you, I think, maybe, I can do almost– Except I like you there, don’t get me wrong, I do. Don’t start huffing puffing, please, I just wanted you to– No please come back, I didn’t, mean that it was mean. We’re adventuring together, I know, but can’t a person dream?! (A bad dream, bad, bad, without you, that’s what I meant. I’m sorry. I never should’ve–) You’re a perfect partner you, our adventures I do love, I just wonder maybe, sometimes… Can I give you a little shove? Not off a cliff or anything, silly, just maybe nudge a few inches away? So that way I can breathe, perhaps, and then when we do– Anything. With you. I will stay.

The chickadee looks nice and cute, but still cries when it flys; The common loon may glide real fast, but then is forced to dive. So if the night is coming now, and if the wind does blow, Who on Earth will see them? Who will ever know? The starfish on a beach washed up, can't inch or jump or flee; The jellyfish just washed up too, Think's its toast, "Oh my! Oh Me!" So if the night is coming, now, and if the waves do scare. Who on Earth will see them? Who will ever care? That man up there he might; Cockeyed, full of light; That man up there he's watching; That man up on the moon. The boy with fists may use them when words just won't suffice; The quiet girl may disappear her veins just throbbing ice; So if the night is coming, now, and if the storm does rage. Who on Earth will see them? And open up their cage? That man up there he might; Cockeyed, full of light; That man up there he's watching; That man up on the moon. He might only flash you a cosmic smile, But a lunar grin is still worth your while. If gravity has got you down, the situation (and he orbit) will come around. That man up there he might; That crazy what's he doing he's reflecting all the sun's light; That man up there he's watching; That man up on the moon. That man up there he might; Cockeyed, full of light; That man up there he's watching; That man up on the moon.

about

The Live Creature and Ethereal Things is a journey of the imagination for all ages. This score was created as a part of a dance performance inspired by the mission of the Red Fred Project, founded by Dallas Graham, which gives voice to young creatives living in extraordinary circumstances.

This magical adventure transports you past the threshold of the ordinary into a world of fantastical possibilities and asks, “if you could tell a story and share it with the entire world, what story would you tell?”

The Live Creature and Ethereal Things (Remastered) encapsulates my original vision for this score. Because this was a limited production, and because the development of the score was constantly moving, changing, and evolving over the course of its creation, live players weren't a feasible option at the time. With this new version, I've gone back and tweaked orchestrations and melodies, and then recreated the entire score from the ground up with all new sounds, and the addition of live players.

This project is near and dear to me in that it allowed me to explore new and interesting styles of music that I wouldn't normally venture into. I hope that you enjoy this score as you embark on a magical (and silly at times) adventure into the worlds created in part by The Red Fred Project.
